Why scuba dive Anilao, in beautiful Philippines?

I have a whole page on why we dive Anilao in my beautiful country with over seven thousand islands and over a hundred dive sites in the beautiful Philippines.

But to briefly reorient you, Anilao is the nearest, by land travel, to a world-class coral garden from Metro Manila. The Sombrero Island Coral Garden. Boasting of dense marine coral and biodiversity that beguiles both novice and adept divers.

If able to, just by it, is a quick drift to Beatrice Rock, another amazing dive site of Anilao due to its strong currents, and we all know what strong currents bring, thick marine life.

With over 50 dive sites to explore in the birthplace of Philippine scuba diving, Anilao offers a wealth of underwater adventures. Some of my personal favorites include Mainit Point, Twin Rocks, Sombrero Island Coral Garden, Mainit Bubbles, and Koala.

Of course, no conversation about Anilao would be complete without mentioning its world-class muck diving, particularly at Secret Bay.

Then there’s the mystifying beauty of Larry’s Garden and New Bahura—a site that remains off the beaten path for most dive operators. This is largely due to its challenging conditions, including a dramatic 20-foot blue-water entry and powerful currents both above and below the surface. These factors often result in dives being canceled, but for those who venture there, the experience is nothing short of unforgettable.

Nearby, Beatrice Rock offers slightly calmer currents and equally spectacular underwater scenery, making it a must-visit spot for divers seeking a mix of excitement and beauty.
