The Navis 1 is a luxurious liveaboard catamaran. Apo Reef is a stunning marine sanctuary in the western part of the Philippines, regarded as the largest coral reef system in the country and the second-largest contiguous reef in the world after the Great Barrier Reef. Located off the coast of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers extraordinary underwater biodiversity and is a top destination for divers and snorkelers.

Currently have a school of baby black tip sharks in the lagoon of this protected sanctuary that have numerous migratory birds enjoying the benefits of this remote and preserved Marine park.

DIVE SITES

Apo Reef Natural Park spans 15,792 hectares of both land and water, offering a breathtaking destination for snorkeling and scuba diving. Declared a protected area in 1996, its crystal-clear waters cover expansive coral reefs brimming with vibrant marine life. The reef is home to 385 species of marine fishes, including sharks, stingrays, manta rays, tropical fish, and moray eels. It also shelters endangered Green Sea and Hawksbill turtles and boasts 500 species of soft and hard corals. Beyond marine biodiversity, the park supports 47 species of resident and migratory birds, making it a paradise for both divers and nature enthusiasts.

Apo Mayor:The larger of the two islands, Apo Mayor, is home to park rangers and a lighthouse that visitors can climb for a stunning 360-degree view of the surrounding ocean.The shallow reefs in front of the ranger station provide a great setting for night dives, offering encounters with nocturnal marine life.South Point is another popular dive site, known for its dense fish population and thrilling underwater encounters.Apo Menor:The smaller island, Apo Menor, is a playground for schooling bumphead parrotfish, making it a must-visit for those looking to witness these unique creatures up close.

APO REEF

The Second Largest Reef System in the World

Apo Reef Natural Park is the second-largest contiguous coral reef system, following the Great Barrier Reef. With 385 species of fish and around 400 species of hard and soft corals, the reef’s rich biodiversity is a magnet for divers worldwide

Diving Highlights

  • Currently have school of black tip sharks in the lagoon
  • Wreck Dive:On the eastern side lies the wreck of an unknown freighter, now completely covered in vibrant soft corals. Rays, reef sharks, and pelagic species like tuna, mackerel, and schools of fusiliers are frequently spotted along the reef’s slopes and dramatic walls.
  • Hammerhead Sightings:North Wall of Apo Mayor offers the chance to spot hammerhead sharks, especially during winter months when they are most active in the area.

Barracuda Lake: with its dramatic limestone cliffs, offers a unique diving experience where freshwater and saltwater mix, creating distinct thermocline layers with varying temperatures.

Twin Peaks: a nearby dive site, is known for its vibrant coral gardens and diverse marine life, including nudibranchs, groupers, and colorful reef fish, making it suitable for divers of all levels.

Siete Pecados: a cluster of seven rocky islets, is surrounded by coral reefs teeming with angelfish, clownfish, and parrotfish, making it a popular spot for snorkeling and shallow dives.

Maquinit Hot Spring: provides a soothing dip in one of the few saltwater hot springs in the world, nestled among mangroves with scenic ocean views.

Kayangan Lake: famed for its crystal-clear emerald waters and jagged limestone cliffs, offers an idyllic setting for swimming, snorkeling, and photography.

Sangat and Culion Islands, located in northern Palawan, are renowned for their natural beauty, rich history, and diverse marine ecosystems.

Sangat Island is a prime destination for wreck diving, as it lies within the Coron Bay area, where several Japanese World War II shipwrecks rest beneath the waters, now transformed into artificial reefs teeming with marine life. In addition to diving, Sangat offers scenic limestone cliffs, white-sand beaches, and excellent snorkeling opportunities, making it a haven for both adventurers and relaxation seekers.

Culion Island, on the other hand, is known not only for its pristine beaches and coral reefs but also for its historical significance. Once a leper colony, the island is now home to the Culion Museum and Archives, which preserves the history of the leprosarium and the community’s transformation. Calumbuyan and North Cay Islands, located near Coron in Palawan, are known for their stunning beaches, vibrant reefs, and tranquil atmosphere, making them ideal spots for snorkeling, diving, and relaxation.

Calumbuyan Island is a popular destination for snorkelers, with its crystal-clear waters revealing an array of colorful corals, reef fish, and occasional sightings of sea turtles. It offers a peaceful retreat with shady palm trees and powdery white sand, perfect for a laid-back beach day.

North Cay Island, not far from Calumbuyan, features a picturesque sandbar and turquoise waters, providing excellent opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. Day 1: Dipnay

Itinerary

You will board the Navis 1 at Dipnay where you will be met by our crew and shown to your assigned cabin. We will do a check dive and a few dives at some beautiful reefs – 2/3 Dives

Day 2: Linapacan

We will dive the amazing Shark Highway, as well as Lululan Rocks and a few dives around San Miguel – 4 dives

Day 3: Linapacan

This day will be spent diving the amazing sites around Linapacan. These sites are known for their great visibility and pristine coral reefs – 4 Dives

Day 4: Coron Wrecks

This day will be spent diving the world renowned WWII Wrecks of Coron and will end up with a beach party at Black Island. 3 dives 

Day 5: Dugongs

Today we dive with the majestic dugongs of Calauit Island. Afterwards we make our way Apo Reef with a remote dive location on the way. 3 dives

Day 6: Apo Reef

4 Action packed dives at the World famous Apo Reef. Today will be spent diving around Apo Island. 4 dives

Day 7: Apo Reef

The last dive day of the trip will visit some more dives at the amazing Apo Reef followed by a beach party. 2/3 dives

 Day 8: Coron

Today we arrive in Coron at 8am to disembark

Liveaboard: NAVIS 1

Itinerary

Day 1: Coron Bay 

You will board the Navis 1 where you will be met by our crew and shown to your assigned cabin. We will start with a check dive at the coral laden Twin Peaks and then do a surreal freshwater lake dive at Barracuda Lake which has a huge thermocline and amazing limestone rock formations. – 2/3 Dives

Day 2 : WWII Wrecks 

The second day brings the best wreck diving in Southeast Asia. We will dive 3 of the largest Japanese Navy Wrecks including a night dive on the biggest.  – 4 Dives

Day 3: Islands

This day will be spent exploring perfect tropical islands and diving some offshore reefs. We will visit Panlaitan, an authentic Filipino fishing village and end up on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world; Black Island. – 3 Dives

Day 4: Dugongs

Day 4 brings us possibly the most unique dive of all; Diving with the incredibly rare and endangered Dugongs. We then make our way to the world famous Apo Reef, doing two island dives on the way up. – 4 Dives

Day 5: Apo Reef

This day will be spent diving the amazing sites around Apo Island, the Apo Reef hotspot for sharks and other large pelagics. Expect 30-50m visibility for these dives. – 4 Dives 

Day 6: Apo Reef

Today we venture to the incredible Apo Reef for some deep dives to a sea mount and some exploration of the largest reef in the Philippines, followed by a party at Apo Island. – 2 Dives (last dive for the trip will be 11:00 am)

Day 7: Coron

Guests will disembark after some group pictures and a nice breakfast.
